Responsibility
for your dog is a lifetime commitment.
- Have your pet spayed
or neutered.
- Before bringing your new puppy or dog home, puppy proof your
home.
- When housebreaking your new puppy patience & positive reinforcement
are the key words here. Never ever rub their nose
in it. A crate or kennel works best. Keep the puppy in
the kennel anytime your not able to watch the puppy closely, Every
time you take the puppy out of the kennel tell him or her to go
outside and go potty. At first you should carry the puppy
directly outside to go.
- After your puppy gets the idea you can let him or her walk
to the door. Keep in mind puppies need to relieve themselves
about every 2-3 hours, the more you can reinforce the positive
aspects the quicker they will learn.
- Feed your puppy on a schedule. 15 to 20
minutes to eat, take up the food and about 30 minutes later get
them outside moving around. A short play session with your puppy
at this time makes going outside a positive
experience for your puppy.
- Regular grooming starting at an early age will make it easier
to groom in the future. Using the proper tools will make grooming
your puppy easy and safe.
